skiron

skiron was a custom 32-bit RISC-inspired CPU architecture designed to be flexible and straightforward to implement. I was a wee lad of twenty, in a particularly hardware-y mood, so I designed my own architecture and all of the surrounding tooling in the D programming language.

Of course, I never got around to actually implementing it in hardware (or, well, an HDL): most HDLs at the time were deeply unpleasant to use, and I'd already got all of the fun I wanted out of it. Might be fun to try again with a modern HDL, like Spade, but I don't think I'd get anything useful out of the experience now.

Well, I did present my work at DConf 2016. That was fun.
